President Buhari Meets With Nine APC Governors & Reason for their meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with nine governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Those in attendance include the Governors of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha; Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi; Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari and Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun.

Okorocha Reveals Why Nine APC Governors Met Buhari

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, says he led nine governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to President Muhammadu Buhari because of the controversies which trailed the party’s primaries for 2019 elections.

Concise News had reported earlier that nine APC governors met with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The meeting came after the national working committee (NWC) of the APC had screened out preferred candidates of some governors and also cancelled elections in some states, with Zamfara state being the latest.

Speaking after meeting President Buhari, Okorocha said the meeting with the President was to find solutions to the crisis trailing the primaries in states.

His words: “We came to review the various crises characterising our primaries especially the APC with a view to finding solution,” he said.

“We are looking for a way out in this regard. We are going to find solution, our party believes in justice, equity and fairness. We are requesting that the right thing be done and let everyone contest the elections.”

Apart from Okorocha those who attended the meeting were Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Sani Bello (Niger), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Tanko Almakura (Nasarawa), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and  Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun).

Concise News reports that the meeting came after the President had on Wednesday night met with Rotimi Akeredolu and Nasir el-Rufai, governors of Ondo and Kaduna states respectively, over the same matter.
