The CEO and Co-Founder Flutterwave, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, has said that there is really nothing to be happy about, as Nigeria marks its 57th Independence.
Mr Aboyeji expressed concern over the situation in the country, especially in the political sphere.
He criticised the recent electoral process, saying that “the peoples will in recent elections have been thwarted, the democratic process has been broken down”.
Mr Aboyeji who is one of the speakers at The Platform Nigeria is of the opinion that the young people have given up on the country and prefer to leave for other developed countries such as the US, Canada etc.
He advocated the need for a society of opportunities not just for the children of the elites but for the poor.
“We have to create a society that creates opportunities for everybody.
“We can’t keep creating a society where we shut doors in peoples faces to protect interests and the ladders of social mobility are removed underneath common people, that is immoral” he stressed.
Mr Aboyeji charged youths to fight for their future, noting that they cannot wait for the leaders to make a change but rather the change starts from the young ones.
“Change can’t wait for us to be the respecter of tables, we can’t do it anymore, we have to fight that battle for our future because the future depends on us.
“If we don’t rise to the challenge of fighting for the future this country deserves, crisis will engulf our country or spill over to the rest of the world.
“The destiny of this country will determine the world we live in 50 years from now”, added.
He further stated the largest group of people with Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) in the country are the young people, thereby urging them to join hands and build the nation.
