The House of Representatives has called on the Nigeria Police Force to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident that led to the killing of several people and destruction of property in Kaduna State.
This followed a motion of urgent national importance to consider the violence which also led to the abduction of a traditional ruler in the area.
Minority Whip of the House, Yakubu Barde, sponsored the motion during Tuesday’s in Abuja.
The lawmakers told the police to ensure that all the perpetrators of the crime were arrested and brought to book.
They also asked the security agency to intensify efforts to secure the release of the abducted ruler.

The crisis, which involved some youths on Thursday last week, left no fewer than 55 people dead at Kasuwa Magani area of Kaduna.
The incident was said to have resulted in a clash between two youth groups of different religion.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai consequently visited the scene of the incident the next day to assess the level of damage at the market.
He had assured residents that the state government would not allow a reoccurrence of such an incident, while relevant authorities had been directed to ensure that the culprits were brought to justice.
The governor added that his administration would act in the interest of peace and harmony by prosecuting those responsible for the violence.
The attack triggered a widespread condemnation across the country, including reactions from the Federal Government and the United Nations.
On Sunday, the police confirmed the arrest of 22 suspects directly connected with the attack while the state government imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Kaduna metropolis and its environs.
At the end of the State Security Council meeting which held today, the government decided to enforce a dusk to dawn curfew (5:00pm to 6:00am) in Kasuwan Magani and Kujama, to enable people to engage in their lawful daily activities.
It, however, sustained the 24-hour curfew in Kabala West, Kabala Doki, Sabon Tasha, Narayi, and Maraban Rido areas where attacks on places of worship were either attempted overnight or contemplated.
